The Flower Kings Release New Album Teaser on YouTube

My favorite progressive rock band The Flower Kings uploaded a trailer for their forthcoming album, which now has a name: “Banks of Eden”. During the 1 minute and 20 seconds preview we hear snippets of the new album. And I can tell you that I like what I am hearing so far!

The text below the YouTube movie gives away that the album will last for 55 minutes. That’s almost short for the Kings’ standards, considering that they released four double albums in the past and the single disc releases were always filled to the brim with music.

The album is scheduled for release on June 18th.

Apple’s View of the Future in 1987: the Knowledge Navigator

A device called the Knowledge Navigator is presented in the video linked below which looks very familiar compared to some devices and apps that Apple released in the last few years and even very recently in the iPhone 4S. It’s amazing to see how close their predictions came to the present day!

Video: The Bionic Burger

Here’s a weird story about a guy who has been collecting McDonald’s hamburger for over 18 years. Why on earth would someone do that?

Well, one day this guy bought two hamburgers, ate one and kept the other one in the pocket of his jacket. That was the last day he wore that jacket for a year. The next year he retrieves the forgotten hamburger from his jacket and to his surprise the hamburger looked exactly the same as on the day he bought it. This event was the start of a hamburger collection.

Hoax or not? You tell me. On the other hand, think about it when you order a hamburger at McDonald’s. If a hamburger really looks like this after a year or even a few years, it can’t be healthy right?

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

Say what?!

The title of this post is the name of an iOS music app. It’s innovative, crazy, mind-blowing and utterly funny.

What the app does? Hard to explain. Just watch the video and see for yourself.

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz is another must have iOS music app. It’s universal and is currently priced at $1.99. It was created by Jörg Piringer and it’s hard to describe what it does. In fact in this case I’m not going to attempt a description. Just watch the video above. Awesome.

Hacking Away with the Kinect Hardware

Some time ago a couple of guys were able to hack the Kinect so it is possible to use the camera on a regular PC or even a Mac. It was only a matter of time before people would start to show off on YouTube what can be done with the Kinect was some added self-written code. Here are (only) two examples of those videos. The beginning of a whole new scene of Kinect wizardry?

You can watch the videos after the jump.

Footage Filmed by a Camera Hanging from a Weather Balloon

Here’s a very cool video that was compiled from footage from an HD camera attached to a weather balloon that rose into the upper stratosphere. The video was created by the Brooklyn Space Program: an organization formed by a group of friends in New York City interested in scientific experiments, engineering, design, and education. The group was founded by Luke Geissbühler. It took them 8 months of research and testing to pull if off.
